Malaysia will enhance cooperation with China in areas of energy and green technology, Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui, Malaysian Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, told China Daily on the sideline of the Summer Davos forum in Tianjin on Tuesday.
Chin said he had a wonderful discussion yesterday with Zhang Guobao, Vice-Minister of China's National Energy Administration and signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the area of energy, green technology and water.
"These are the areas I feel both countries can gain in terms of research and development," he said.
Chin also expressed his willingness to cooperate with Tianjin in the above-mentioned areas.
"This is my second visit to Tianjin. I'm very impressed with the fast improvement in recent years. And I'm sure that there must be something we can learn and cooperate together. I'm sure we can work something out in the future, "said Chin.
He also congratulated Tianjin for putting up "a very good show here".
"When I say ‘a(chǎn) good show', it doesn't mean that it's just a show," he said, noting that the subjects under discussions during the meeting are very substantive. "The discussions I attended since yesterday are very constructive. I'm sure those attend the meeting will gain extensively."
Convened by the World Economic Forum, the fourth Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also dubbed the 2010 Summer Davos, is scheduled to be held from September 13 to 15, attracting more than 1,000 registered participants from over 80 countries and regions to discuss the latest issues of world economic development.
