Indian quake felt in China's Tibet

LHASA - Three houses collapsed, one person was injured and telecommunications services suspended in some parts of the Tibet autonomous region in Southwest China after an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted India Sunday night.

With the epicenter 40 km from the China-India border, the earthquake was felt in most parts of Xigaze prefecture in Tibet, the Tibet regional seismological bureau said.

Telecom services in Yadong county, which borders India, had been suspended.

An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted India at 8:40 pm Beijing Time on Sunday, said the China Earthquake Networks Center. The epicenter, with a depth of 20 km, was detected to be at 27.7 degrees north latitude and 88.2 degrees east longitude.
