The news that former Party chief of Chongqing Bo Xilai will face an open trial at the Jinan Intermediate People's Court in East China's Shandong province today dominates the discussions online.

Almost 100 chengguan, urban management officers, in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong, showed off their new uniforms complete with stab-proof vest and helmets on Tuesday, China News Service reported. One officer said it's necessary to wear the outfit so they can secure their personal safety in possible confrontations with illegal street vendors.

An unmarried mother and her nine-month-old daughter have been living in a KFC store in Beijing for two months, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
