Faberge's Russian treasures on display at Palace Museum

Fabergé Revealed, an exhibit showcasing more than 200 treasures created for the Russian imperial family and collected by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in the US, opened on Saturday at the Palace Museum.

The four-part exhibition, which runs until July 17, includes 50 Easter eggs made for the last Russian tsars, decorative art, luxurious daily supplies and religious relics form Fabergé collections.

Peter Carl Fabergé was a renowned goldsmith, jeweler and crafts designer from Russia, who revolutionized traditional jewelry design and manufacturing techniques.

He was best known for the famous Easter eggs he designed for the Russian royal family, as well as treasures crafted in enamel and precious gems.

The exhibit is a rare, large-scale show of US museum collections abroad and it is also a debut show of the museum's Fabergé collections outside North America.

Visitors can view the exotic items in the East Wing of the Tower Gallery at the Meridian Gate of the Palace Museum.
