An art troupe of some 20 people from Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, staged a Chinese folk art exhibition in Saint-Denis, France from Aug 8 to 20.
Shanxi province was celebrated as a hub of tycoons from the 19th century to early 20th century, and many of their mansions remain icons - but few people know about the Li Family Courtyard in Yuncheng city's Wanrong county.
Peibai village looks no different from many other hamlets in North China. Rows of redbrick courtyards lie neatly in square formations, surrounded by plots of farmland resembling plaid.
A total of 400 calligraphers wrote guan and yi, two Chinese characters which represent the famous general Guanyu from ancient times, and righteousness, at Guandi Temple in Changping town, Yuncheng, on Aug 15 to try and set a new Guinness World Record.
The fourth Shanxi Taihang Mountain Culture and Tourism Festival opened in Jincheng on Aug 9, highlighting the city's natural scenery and culture while promoting local tourism.
