To Macao SAR officials:

Xi told leading officials from the administrative, legislative and judicial departments of the government of the Macao SAR that the sound interactions among the three departments have demonstrated that the governing system with the chief executive at the core based on the Basic Law must be resolutely upheld.

Xi commended the administrative, legislative and judicial work of Macao, and said that the three departments, led by Chief Executive Chui Sai-on, have faithfully implemented the Constitution and the Basic Law, fulfilled their duties seriously and achieved fruitful results that satisfy the central government and the residents of Macao.

The central government "fully affirms and highly appreciates" the work they have done, Xi told the officials.

Highlighting the advantage of the governing system, Xi said it ensures that democracy is practiced and inefficiency is avoided as the administrative, legislative and judicial departments coordinate with each other while performing their own duties.

He said that also helps unite all the people in striving for the goal of building a better homeland and jointly pushing for steady progress in practicing the "one country, two systems" principle, Xi added.

He expressed the hope that the officials will continue to support the chief executive and the SAR government and contribute their wisdom to the cause of "one country, two systems".
