To chief executive of Hong Kong SAR:

While meeting with Hong Kong's chief executive, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, and some other officials of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Xi said the central government has fully endorsed the proposal laid out by Lam on the future work of the SAR government.

Xi, who also met with Lam during her visit to Beijing on Monday, reiterated that the central government fully acknowledges the courage and sense of responsibility shown by Lam during the special period in Hong Kong.

He expressed hope that the different departments of the Hong Kong government, under Lam's leadership, will assume their respective duties, coordinate closely and form greater synergy to ensure that the affairs in the city are well handled.

In her response, Lam voiced her appreciation for the opportunity to meet with Xi, saying that she is determined to lead the SAR government to end violence and chaos and restore social order at an early date.
