In addition, cultivating rice with crab, a popular rice planting project in North China, was introduced in 5.3 hectares in the village last year, contributing to a 10 percent rise in the total annual revenue in the village.
In 2017, the revenue of village collectives was fewer than 120,000 yuan, and in 2019 the figure doubled, according to a research report made by the Tianjin Economic Research Institute, under the Tianjin Development and Reform Committee.
The local farmers' average disposable income hit 27,244 yuan last year, higher than the average figure of Tianjin, the report said.
